Ah well, though the Johnnies lost the football game (by one point!) , there was still “much joy on the tundra” following the game with beautiful weather and thousands of alumni, alumnae, friends and present students! The following were taken in the new Abbey Hospitality Tent.
Above: Br. Novice Lucian behind the bread tasting table with Br. Aelred. They were offering fresh artisan bread tasting. Two kinds of bread, wheat baked by Br. Paul Richards and a heavy Bavarian rye baked by Fr. Mark Thamert. Fresh honey from the monastery apiary was available as well!
Also featured were gift items from our abbey gift shop. All items were made by the monks of Saint John’s Abbey. Saint John’s Woodworking also had a display featuring the Saint John’s Cross, an engraved replica of a monastery dining room chair and burial urns and other items. The vocation display that I take to various events was also set up as well as a nice display and free copies of Give Us This Day by the Liturgical Press.
A view from our tent before the mob arrived!

Peace and joy, bpv
