Involvement at the Haehn…

Every new school year Saint John’s University and the College of Saint Benedict sponsor an activity at the Haehn Center at Saint Benedict’ College for all the incoming students to get a sense of what is available on both campuses as well as the immediate surrounding area. Sister Mary Katherine Holicky O.S.B. and I have teamed together for these past four years to operate a booth whereby the new students have an opportunity for yet another introduction to the monastic communities that are on both campuses. Pictured above is Sister Mary Catherine trying to introduce order into chaos! This is before the hordes of students arrive. As you can see we will probably have some stiff competition from the pizza booth just behind us.

Above is one of our Monastic Associates, Daryl Jackson in the black “Listen” tee shirt serving a student.

This year’s theme was “Dive in with your monastic community!” (Note the porpoise and other inflatable fish!) This ties in with the plunges or 24 hour live-ins we sponsor throughout the school year for the students. The event lasts for three hours and generally about 800 students plus pass through.

This year we raffled off two “Listen” tee shirts and offered an ice pop for anyone who wanted more information about the various live-in programs and alternative spring break. Peace, Br. Paul-Vincent
